The orb was secretely carried by Férius throughout most of the campaign.  The entirety of Fletch's afterlife was centered around his attraction to the orb and an uneasy fealing whenever it wasn't near.  Never knowing what was drawing him in, Fletch felt less uneasy around Férius, who kept the orb hidden from the rest of the party in order to discover its secrets without anyone else knowing.  However, despite his many efforts to learn the truth about what the orb was, it would serve as little more than a trinket.  He was able to uncover few facts about its history: that it was a "family heirloom" in Sylvacae's family, that Gwerion believed it could control the dragon, and that it was an item of great importance.
