The enemy arrives on the 9th day of Dep under the cover of a thick fog. That day, a force of 50 soldiers accompanied by several spellcasters attack the monastery. [[Gwendolyn]] and [[Filyon]] send giant tree trunks rolling into the advancing forces. [[Senken]] demonstrates his excellent ability with the bow. Two nightmares descend from the sky - their riders are quickly killed and one of the nightmares is mounted and bested in a battle of wills by [[Trivel]]. [[Beryl]] does repeated damage to the "leader" of the Sa'Enkadians and is made sick by a mind-effecting spell he casts on her.  The enemy spellcasters summon three demons and animate the corpses of their fallen soldiers to fight as zombies, but they are soon overrun by monks.
