After the forest fire, the party begins investigating the Sa'Enkad demon plot.

The Combatants

The enemies who started the fire wore black masks, but upon further inspection it was revealed that they were all deformed, each in their own way. All were carrying symbols of Sa'Enkad in different forms, but only possessed one each. The hirer-ranking officials had a brooch, whereas the lower-ranking officers had tokens. The magic users had medallions; on the back of each was a blood red stone that radiated magic. They worse nicely made, loose-fitting, black clothing and among the bodies was discovered a big thick book with drawings of demons that smelled like blood. The party also found a series of correspondences on the higher-ranking officials: several of them being letters from the Imperial Majesty/Emporer of Sa'Enkad to his wife, mistress, and his girlfriend.

Another letter was discovered, detailing the goal of this group of Sa'Enkad troops. The letter was to the leader of these combatants and explained that their mission was to try and take over the Simsoniya Monastery with the "girl-child". Further details the plan as thus: Capture the princess and take the seal Sandaval is hiding in the Simsoniya Monastery.

The letter also explained that the Imperial Magesty has King Brax right where he wants him because the army is planning a big demon raid at the end of the week on Zelantar and wanted King Brax out of the country. The Sa'Enkad army is still working on summoning the major demon, however.

History

During the change, demons overran all of Inembleth. On this continent, everyone banded together to fight the demons. Several really powerful wizards, sorcerers, and clerics from each country would defeat and seal the demons. When they were finished, each took the sealing item back home with them. Sa'Enkad played a big role in sealing the demons, having many powerful sealers from the area and they would use the items to control the demons to solve their problems when they arose in the future.

The party then returned to the Simsoniya Monastery where Sandaval leads them three stories underground. There is a long hallway with pedestals on either side and various artifacts on display with plaques describing them. At the very end is a human skull on a pedestal with an inscription--the item the Sa'Enkad army was trying to retrieve. Sandaval tells the party that the other artifacts must be retrieved or Sa'Enkad will be closer to summoning a powerful demon named Skrivanos. The only way to stop them is to destroy the artifacts.

There are seven artifacts total:

The party uses the spell, "speak with dead" to talk to one of the dead Sa'Enkad combatants. They learn that Sa'Enkad has collected all but two of the artifacts: the skull in Feren 'Kat (the skull) and one in Red Kingdom 7. Matawan, Beryl's mentor, had a teacher who possessed a precious item. Matawan went to see his teacher about this precious item and wished to keep it from Sa'Enkad, which is why he resides in a swamp in Red Kingdom 7. The party decides to go to Red Kingdom 7 to investigate the last artifact and Sandaval helps by teleporting the party to a swamp.

Beryl finds Matawan's hut as well as some tracks leading away from it. They are hurriedly covered, but Beryl manages to track them to a tree, where Matawan is hiding, ready to shoot the party. Matawan explains that he was wary of Sa'Enkad forces attempting to steal the artifact and leads the party to a tree named Frank which contains the seal--a small silver stone dagger. Matawan summons giant owls to fly the party back to the Simsoniya Monastery.

The party also learns that Meno oversaw the creation of the items and wrote instructions to destroy them--all must be brought together and smashed, which is what the party decides must be done.
