Dragon orb
The dragon orb was a very important item in the Evil Campaign because it had a rich history and crossed paths with many characters and NPC's. It remained in Férius' posession through most of the campaign and its identity was revealed only at the very end whereupon it was fought over by Férius, Fletch, and Norson. Ultimately, Fletch returned it to the Dragon and was finally able to move on.
Pre-Game History
It was revealed in-game that the dragon orb was first created and used by an ancestoral group of people known as The Ancients. It could control a platinum dragon.
The orb was passed down for generation after generation until it fell into the Lauraen bloodline. Verin Lauraen, an elf of important status, had possession of the orb and would wear it at important events of her people. It was during these events that Gwerion--then known as Iaa--saw the orb and desired it for himself.
Gwerion desired the orb so much that he paid a bounty hunter Fletch to steal it from Verin Lauraen and bring it to him. Fletch was killed while attempting to steal the pouch containing the orb (and thus concealing from him the identity of the item within) and returned as a ghost to complete his job. The orb continued to pass through the Lauraen bloodline to Sylvacae.
Sylvacae had the orb in her possession for several years and parted with it only after being forced from the elven kingdom, whereupon she gave it to Férius and told him to keep it safe.
In-Game History
The orb was secretely carried by Férius throughout most of the campaign. The entirety of Fletch's afterlife was centered around his attraction to it. Never knowing what was drawing him in, Fletch felt less uneasy around Férius, who kept it hidden from the rest of the party and sought to discover its secrets without anyone else knowing. Despite his many efforts, the orb would serve as little more than a trinket. He was able to uncover few facts about its history: that it was a "family heirloom" in Sylvacae's family, that Gwerion believed it could control the dragon, and that it was an item of great importance.
Upon realizing that the necklace he carried was a dragon orb, Férius immediately sought to find and control the dragon. The party ventured into Valgalen Forest and discovered a temple where the ancients were laid to rest. Férius, Fletch, and Norson quickly discovered that the temple was also the location of the dragon. When the dragon appeared, Férius attempted to use the dragon orb to control it, but nothing happened. Fletch saw it and fought desperately with Férius to take possession of it, for it was the item that would settle his unrest. It passed hands many times before Norson entered and tried taking it for himself. Knowing that Gwerion had ties to it, Norson sought to destroy it. Eventually, Norson escaped with the dragon orb and Férius disappeared as well. Fletch managed to escape the dragon with the rest of the party.
Norson then encountered Gwerion, decimating his house and murdering him. The party travelled to Norson's house, where, having no more use of the orb, he handed it over to Fletch. Fletch brought the dragon orb back to the ruins of Gwerion's house. The dragon appeared, asked for the orb's return and placed Fletch's spirit to rest.
