Simsoniya Forest Fire

A black smoke from a forest fire is headed toward the Simsoniya Monastery. The apprhing forces are burning the forest as they head toward the monastery. The party organizes a preemptive strike to prevent the forces from spreading the forest fire further. There are shadowy people moving around in front of the forest fire - their numbers are difficult to count. Beryl and her druid posse use their magic to help put out a section of the forest fire. Tirogn summons a water elemental named Wetty that charges into the fire, helping to extinguish it.

One of the shadowy figures summons a demon. Gwendolyn throws one of the bad guys at the demon and he rips him in half. A bunch of bad guys suddenly spawn on the forest. Marek hacks a shadowy figure to death while Trivel's nightmare tramples another to death. The demon swings his mace and obliterates several people (see Sauron). Gwendolyn obliterates one of the shadowy figures with three powerful strikes. Orst dive bombs the demon to cast a spell on him.

The demon swings wildly and kills several more shadowy figures. Filyon critically pierces the demoacon with arrows, but it does not slow him. Gwendolyn approaches the demon and (rolling a 34 vs the demon's 30) disarms the demon and takes his mace from him, giving it to Lem. Lem swings the mace and strikes the demon, killing him with his own mace.

One of the shadowy figures begins chanting and Gwendolyn tackles him. Lem knocks over a crowd of enemies with his demon mace, killing several of them. Berly pin-cushioned one of the remaining shadowy figures. Towards the end of the battle, King Brax shows up and the plot to assassinate him commences.

The Combatants

The enemies wore black masks, but upon further inspection it was revealed they were all deformed, but each in their own way. They all had symbols of Sa'Enkhad in different forms, but only one. The hirer ranking officials have a brooch, the lower ranking officers had tokens. The magic users had medallions - on the back of each was a blood red stone that radiated magic. They worse nicely made, loose-fitting, black clothing. Among the bodies was a big thick book with drawings of demon that smelled like blood. The party discovers a series of correspondences on the higher-ranking officials. Several of them are letters from the Imperial Majesty/Emporer of Sa'Enkhad to his wife, mistress, and his girlfriend.

Another letter reads:

• leader of these combatants
• try to take over the monastery with the girl-child
• wants King Brax right where he wants him. the plan was to:
  • capture the princess
  • steal the seal Sandaval is hiding in the Simsoniya Monastery
• big demon raid at the end of the week
• they are still working on summoning the big demon

History

During the change, demons overran all of Inembleth. On this continent, everyone banded together to fight the demon. Several really strong wizards, sorcerers, and clerics from each country would defeat and seal the demons. When they were finished, each took the sealing item back home with them.
